Performance Testing
Extended-Life OAT Coolant is a heavy-duty coolant formulated to meet MAT 3724 specifications. It is a long service life product based on a synergistic combination of organic additives technology that provide excellent overall corrosion protection. It protects cooling system metals against deposit buildup, rust, corrosion and cylinder liner cavitation and provides excellent high temperature protection in extreme conditions. Extended-Life OAT Coolant meets and exceeds ASTM D6210 specifications and provides excellent corrosion and cavitation protection.
OAT vs. Conventional Coolant
Heavy-duty diesel coolant features three components: water, anti-freeze/anti-boil and an additive package made up of corrosion inhibitors and other additives. It is this last component – the additive package – that differentiates OAT from conventional coolant. OAT coolant features corrosion inhibitors that are carbon-based as opposed to nitrite inhibitors in conventional coolant. This feature makes OAT coolant fully backwards compatible – making it the ONLY coolant able to protect all generations of equipment.
Better Cooling Performance:
Inorganic additives – used in conventional coolants react to the metal surfaces and attach/deposit on the metal surfaces. These deposits insulate the wall and work as barrier for heat flow between hot surface and the coolant. Carboxylates additives – used in OAT coolants – do not deposit on the surface and only react with the surface where protection is required. OAT is NAPS Free (Nitrite, Amine, Phosphorous & Silicon). Nitrites can react with secondary amines to form nitroamines which are carcinogenic. Being 2-EHA (2-Ethylhexanoic acid) free, it is compatible with all system elastomer’s ensuring optimal system performance.
Linear Pitting
As diesel engines operate, vibration of the cylinders creates microscopic bubbles in the coolant that attach to the cylinder liners. These bubbles can implode with a force of over 15,000 PSI. This collapse can blast small holes in the cylinder liner, resulting in liner cavitation. Over time, liner cavitation can allow coolant to enter the engine oil – ultimately contributing to engine failure.
Extended Protection
Extended-Life OAT Coolant uses organic salts that deplete at a much slower rate compared to conventional corrosion inhibitors, which are more prone to degradation over the life of service. This results in extended service life that is more than twice as long as conventional coolants. Extended-Life OAT Coolant provides up to 4,000 hours/4 years service life max (whichever comes first) in heavy equipment applications without the need of a booster or extender. Older coolant formulations provide a useful service life ranging from 1,200 to 2,000 hours (or two years, whichever comes first).
Performance Requirement and Warnings
Never Mix Coolants
Refer to the operator’s manual of the vehicle to determine the approved coolant type as well as the service life of the coolant. NEVER mix inorganic (conventional), HOAT (Hybrid OAT), or other OAT coolants with Extended-Life OAT Coolant. Mixing coolants to an Extended-Life OAT Coolant cooling system may lead to the following:
- Loss of stability of the corrosion inhibitor
- Cavitation erosion
- Gelling
If you believe that the OAT coolant system has been topped off with conventional coolant, or the coolant system refilled without consideration of the proper procedures:
- Check the Extended-Life OAT Coolant with conventional coolant test strips to see if the level of Nitrites is higher than 20 PPM (parts per million).
- If the Nitrite level is greater than 20 PPM, a system flush is required.
Is it Extended-Life OAT Coolant?
Heavy-Duty Extended-Life OAT Coolant is red in color, however the color can vary depending on the angle it is viewed, and some other coolants may have the similar color. There is no industry color standard for OAT coolant; therefore, do not assume red coolant is Heavy-Duty Extended-Life OAT Coolant. Look for the Extended-Life OAT Coolant decal before adding or changing coolant. The decal shown on this page is located near the fill point of the cooling system whenever the factory fill is Extended-Life OAT Coolant. The decal is available in three different sizes.
Decals
- Replace coolant decal as per the table.
- Extended-Life OAT Coolant is compatible with previous CNH Industrial-branded Actifull OT coolant.

Coolants - IAT Coolant 11
For use on Tier 3 Engines and Earlier
Inorganic Additive Technology (IAT) Coolant 11 - Conventional Fluid
Heavy-duty diesel equipment requires more from a coolant than a generic green automotive grade can provide. The use of non-formulated coolant can lead to many engine issues. The most critical is liner pitting. IAT Coolant 11’s advanced formula provides superior liner pitting protection and aluminum protection amongst IAT coolants. IAT Coolant 11 is fully charged with supplemental coolant additives (SCAs), eliminating the need to add additional SCAs at refill or top off.
IAT Coolant 11 – Classic Concentrate and 50/50 Premix Ethylene Glycol (EG)
Major diesel engine manufacturers estimate that more than 50% of engine failures are cooling system related. Worn rings, scuffed pistons, cracked heads and corroded bearings may appear to be unrelated to the cooling system, when in fact, these problems are often the symptoms of improper cooling system maintenance. Engine Oil - OEM
New Holland Engine Oil
New Holland Engine Oil has been formulated to meet the stringent demands of today’s Tier 4 Final/Stage V (EPA/EU) engines by utilizing Low-SAPS (Sulfated Ash, Phosphorus, and Sulfur) additive technology. The low ash formulation helps protect the exhaust catalysts and Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) found on the latest low emission vehicles. Today’s modern, low emission engines are more efficient and more powerful than ever before. Increased performance means engines are running at higher temperatures and require high-performance lubricants to protect engine components from premature wear. To safeguard against premature wear, our genuine New Holland Engine Oils have been specifically engineered to new, next-generation MAT 3571 and MAT 3572 specifications and extensively tested to provide maximum protection in oxidation and aeration control, shear stability, and proven performance life for the heavy-duty, high-temperature operation of construction, agricultural, and other off-road diesel-powered equipment.
Features, Benefits and Performance
- Our MAT 3571 and MAT 3572 designations help differentiate our engine oils from the competition by exceeding the American Petroleum Institute (API) CK-4 requirements. These specifications require proven performance in many key areas (deposit control, oxidation, corrosion, aeration, and shear stability), and it certifies that our oils have been formulated, tested, and approved by CNH Industrial engineers to meet the rigorous demands of New Holland machines.
- Our New Holland Engine Oils are the only lubricants bench tested, field tested and approved by CNH Industrial engineers in severe lab conditions, and under load in extreme field testing.
- Demonstrated resistance to thermal breakdown under high temperatures and excellent cold weather starting.
- Proven wear protection to maximize engine efficiency and help prolong engine life.
- Extended oil drain interval capabilities validated by CNH Industrial engineers. When using a competitor’s engine oil, oil drain intervals and service hours may be reduced as much as 50%.
- Backwards compatibility for generations of older equipment, and suitable for use in all on and off-highway engines requiring API CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 Plus, CI-4 or CH-4 diesel engine oil.
- Maintains lubricity even with the use of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and demonstrates protection against oxidation and corrosion in the presence of biodiesel.
- Our program offers terms and cash discounts, free freight for packaged and bulk.
- Our lubricants are supported both technically and with sales by a dedicated supplier team.
- Available in multiple package sizes, ranging from a one-quart bottle to a 257-gallon bulk tote, or delivered right to your on-site bulk tank.

MAT Matters
The internal technical standards we apply in testing go above and beyond the minimum API CK-4 requirements – demanding more from our products. Since 2017, our oils have been tested in various stringent in-house bench tests and in more than 150 CNH Industrial field validation vehicles worldwide covering a wide variety of applications. As new engine technologies emerge, new MAT specifications are used to test and approve new lubricants that exceed industry standards and engine needs.
What Does the MAT Number on Your Oil Container Mean? The MAT designation on your oil container is what differentiates it from the competition. It certifies that our oils have been tested and approved by CNH Industrial engineers to meet the demands of New Holland machines and help extend component life. That’s why the New Holland choice for oil is documented in the operator’s manual and approved for warranty claims – ONLY those MAT specified oils can make that claim.
Why is Oil Oxidation Resistance Important? With the increased operating temperature and pressure inside modern engines, CNH Industrial demands engine oils with high oxidation resistance. MAT 3571/3572 requires a specific oxidation test CEC L-085-99 which tests how long an engine oil can withstand high heat and high pressure before breaking down. New Holland Engine Oil outperforms the competition.

What is Grease?
Grease is a thickened lubricant that is comprised of three main parts: base oil that does the lubricating, thickener that immobilizes the base oil, and additives which enhance the performance of the grease. In order for a grease to be effective it should:
- Stay in contact with the moving surfaces
- Not leak out under gravity or centrifugal action
- Resist being squeezed out under pressure
- Be shear stable at all temperatures that it’s subjected to during use
- Be able to flow from spot to spot in the lubricated machine, as needed
- Not add significantly to the power required to operate the machine, particularly at start-up
Why Use Grease Instead of Oil?
- Stays where you put it
- Minimal dripping, leaking and splattering
- Seals out contaminants
- Decreases frequency of lubrication
- Noise reduction/dampening
Additives and Thickener Types
CNH Industrial greases are formulated with numerous additives to enhance and maintain consistent performance.
- Antioxidants
- Anti-wear
- Extreme pressure additives
- Friction modifiers
- Dyes
- Anti-weld and solid lubricants

Key Takeaways
When tested against competitive fluids, Hydraulic Transmission Oil Premium is the only hydraulic transmission oil to score the highest on each of the following eight performance metrics:
- Superior Wear Protection: Protects against wear for longer component life.
- Reduced Noise and Vibration: Provides smoother shifting of clutches with less wear and minimal brake chatter.
- Best-in-class Torque Transfer: Delivers more power to the ground and higher braking capacity.
- Exceptional Water Tolerance: Holds up to 1% of its volume in water; which helps prevent rust, sticky hydraulic valves, flow restrictions and pump cavitation.
- Superior Oxidation Stability: Resists oxidation, prevents deposits and inhibits corrosion for increased component life and reduced downtime.
- Better Filterability: Performs under extreme conditions with better flow and less filter plugging.
- Superior Shear Stability: Provides advanced wear protection for transmissions and implement pumps by maintaining its viscosity when subjected to high temperatures and extreme pressure.
- Optimal Corrosion Protection: Extends component life with optimal protection against corrosion and pitting.
Water Tolerance
What is Water Tolerance? Water tolerance is the ability of a fluid to absorb excess moisture and keep it suspended in the oil – away from metal parts.
How Does Water Get Into the Hydraulic System? Water will always find its way into your equipment. When equipment sits after high temperature operation, condensation occurs and accumulates water in the hydraulic transmission system. When this happens, additive fallout can follow and ultimately reduce performance. Condensation can occur in bulk storage tanks as well. Hydraulic Transmission Oil Premium is one of the marketplace leaders in water tolerance. Hydraulic Transmission Oil Premium keeps water suspended in the fluid and away from metal parts without losing its additives, which can clog your filters.
Why is Water Tolerance Important? Free water can promote rusting, accumulate in low spots and freeze, resulting in restricted flow and pump cavitation. Additionally, additive separation could result and lead to loss of performance and filter plugging.
Does Hydraulic Transmission Oil Premium Change Color When Contaminated by Water? Yes, Hydraulic Transmission Oil Premium will gradually take on a cloudy appearance as water contamination increases whereas the previous formulations stayed clear even with 1% water contamination. We see this as a benefit with the new product in that it provides a visual indication of the water contamination and illustrates the need for corrective action.
